Dimitri Papageorgiou (* 1965)
Currently an associate professor, he has been teaching composition at the Department of Music Studies at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki since 2007. He has taught seminars and master classes on composition as a guest artist at Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media, the School of Music at the University of Iowa and the University of Nevada, as well as the Department of Music at the University of Tehran. He regularly teaches at the outHEAR New Music Week, featuring the ensemble Klangforum as an ensemble-in-residence, and at the Delian International Academy for New Music at Mykonos, an international summer academy for composers and sound artists, which is curated under the auspices of Georges Aperghis.
He has appeared at festivals, conferences, and concerts in Austria, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Switzerland, France, Spain, Russia, Finland, Greece, Cyprus, Croatia, Turkey, Iran and the U.S.A. His music has been performed by orchestras such as the Thessaloniki State Orchestra and the Radio Symphony Orchestra Athens, as well as renown ensembles such as Klangforum, Interface, Airborne Extended, Il Suono Giallo, Oerknal, Zeitfluss, Resonanz, UMS & JIP, Etcetera, dissonart, trio IAMA, Chor Pro Musica Graz, CNM Ensemble Iowa, Ensemble Studio Dan, etc.
He is artistic co-director of the OFF BORDERS Festival for electroacoustic music and performing arts, artistic co-director of the outHEAR New Music Week, where he gives a symposium and master class on new music featuring the ensemble Klangforum, and artistic consultant to and member of the Tehran International Music Festival Organising Committee.
